What we record
The measurements that matter
A 24-point couture chart. Below are the key points and how to take them accurately.
Bust
Over the fullest part, tape parallel to the floor.
Under Bust
Directly under the bust line, snug not tight.
Waist
Natural waist — usually 1" above the navel.
Hip
Fullest part of the hip, 7–8" below the waist.
Shoulder
From one shoulder edge to the other, across the back.
Sleeve Length
Shoulder tip to the desired sleeve endpoint.
Arm Round
Loosely around the fullest part of the upper arm.
Bicep
Around the mid-bicep, arm relaxed.
Blouse Length
From shoulder to desired hemline.
Waist to Ankle
From natural waist to ankle, standing straight.
Waist to Floor
For lehengas and gowns — waist to floor with heels on.
Neck Depth (F/B)
Neckline drop measured from shoulder base.
